ABOUT

Born and brewed in the Chicago-land, Lauren ANATOLIA now lives in Los Angeles.  The singer-songwriter also holds two B.A.’s (Business/French and Communications) and a M.A. (Political Science) from the University of Illinois, spending 2 years studying in Paris, France. Lauren learned piano and violin as a child, and was heavily influenced by scores from Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera and everything about Disney’s Fantasia.

As a teenager, ANATOLIA played in musicals and sang the national anthem regularly for sporting events and national holidays. Though she took a hiatus from singing/acting as an undergraduate, ANATOLIA & MUSIC fell back in love in PARIS during her Master’s studies. She performed as a JAZZ vocalist in Parisian bars, and earned a spot in the Sciences-Po ORCHESTRA & choir. One could often spot her busking in the cityscape of BERLIN during her travels as well! These years sparked a vibrant realization – that her life could not be full without creating music and art.

Upon the completion of her M.A. in May 2012, ANATOLIA shook off the live-performance cobwebs, with concerts at the European Forum Congress Center in Alpbach, Austria and the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. Excitement ensued, and she packed her bags for Los Angeles to have a go at the music industry.

Today in the city of angels, L.A. combines her academic formation, travels and human experience with her PASSION FOR MUSIC & writing. Her lyrics are full of stories and messages, while her sound hums at the intersection between indie-POP, ELECTRO and JAZZ/FOLK.

An ARTIVIST, she cares deeply about domestic & global issues which mark our evermore interconnected societies; sustaining/protecting the environment, feeding/educating the world, achieving equality/respect for all (and endless etceteras). Her mission is to live a life of SYMBIOSIS – MAKING A DIFFERENCE by doing what she loves.

L/A\’s  debut EP, out JUNE 2013 will reflect her artivist inspirations, as well as expressions of the heart.
